Turtle River Description

The Satilla River basin includes part or all of 15 Georgia counties; ... causing the the Turtle River to be considered part of the Satilla River basin. Turtle River Ramp (Ga Hwy 303) Take Exit 29 south on U.S. HWY 17 for 0.6 miles to GA HWY 303. Turn right (north) 5.2 miles to the Turtle River Bridge. Boat ramp located on left after crossing bridge. (One single-lane ramp). Nestled on the Georgia coast, midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, lie the mainland city Brunswick and four barrier islands: St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Spanish explorers came to the area more than 400 years ago, seeking gold. Instead they found astonishing beauty, mild weather and a natural radiance that inspires the name, The Golden Isles. Located along the Intracoastal Waterway, the landscape is defined by vast expanses of marshland, punctuated by small islands, between the Atlantic Ocean and the mainland. The marshes and the rivers that flow through them on their way to the sea teem with all sorts of fish, birds and animals.
