Father & Son Fishing

Went out today with the sole purpose that my son catch his first Largemouth Bass on artificial lures. Our destination took us to Massasoit State Park, where we fished in inclement weather at Big Bearhole Pond and turned up with no success after a while. Then we crossed the road over to Middle Pond (on the southwest side) and that's where he landed a nice 2lb Bass with a watermelon colored Senko worm. Shortly after he landed two more around the 1lb size. This trip turned out to be a complete success regardless of the rain!

  • Timmo, keep up the good work too many kids never get out and enjoy the outdoors...

  • Thanks Ken, I started taking him fishing since he was 3yrs old, first catch was a 1lb catfish, he thought it was beautiful, hehehe...he's 9yrs old now and we've been fishing every year since then. He likes fishing but enjoys bragging about his catch, hahaha...I've had my son Hector involved heavily in sports since he was 4yrs old. I always pics of family fishing excursions for the same reason you posted on. There are many negative influences out there that's for sure!
Hey Ken, it would be great if MAFF could organize some future fishing events sponsoring just that and involving the kids more :) Just a Thought

  • Keep taking him and he will be hooked.Keep them off the streets and away from the drugs.Fishing is a great way to do it.He is young now.As he gets older watch out who he hangs with.Don't make the mistakes I did.Lots of bad stuff out there and you need to keep him away from it.My 24 year old son is in rehab for the 3rd time.He has a 1 year old daughter and he misses her very much.Keep him close and it will work.
